Francis O Hopkins 95 died Sunday November 30th at his son's home in Horseheads, NY surrounded by family. Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, Fran was the son of the late Cortland and Catherine (England) Hopkins. A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Navy veteran of WWII, Fran worked as a manufacturing engineer for the General Electric Company for over 43 years before his retirement. Francis was a graduate of the GE Electric Apprentice Course and the GE Manufacturing Management Course. An avid golfer and bowler, he was a self employed photographer, former President of the Rotterdam Little League and Rotterdam Babe Ruth, a member of the Rotterdam Elks, GE Apprentice Alumni and a member of the Board of the Rotterdam Boys and Girls Club, where he was a former swim instructor and volunteer. Fran was also a member of St Paul's Episcopal Church, the Schenectady Masonic lodge #1174 and the Rotterdam Senior Citizens. Predeceased in 2007 by his beloved wife Jeanne (Button) Hopkins who he married June 22, 1947, he was also preceded in death by his 3 brothers, James Edward and Cortland Hopkins. Francis is survived by his 3 boys, William F. Hopkins (Margaret) of Horseheads, Robert J Hopkins of Rivervale, NJ and Douglas H. Hopkins (Patricia) of Rotterdam, his sister, Vivian Hopkins of Schenectady, his 5 grandchildren, James, Christopher, Jeffrey, Megan and Michael, his great grandchild Parker and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday December 5th 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 6th at 10:30 am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Fairview Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12306. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment in Evergreen memorial Park, Colonie, NY. Contributions may be made in Fran's memory to the Rotterdam Boys and Girls Club, Curry Road, Schenectady, NY 12306.
