Robert J. Hewett, 82, passed Monday morning July 28 , 2014 surrounded and supported by his loving family at Ellis Hospital. Born and educated in Schenectady, Robert was the son of the late Robert L. and Bertha (Hannah) Hewett and a1949 graduate of Draper High School. The owner and president of Hewett Builders Inc. for over 35 years, Bob had built over 1000 homes in his career. Bob was a member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge #2157, the National Home Builders Association, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Association, a member of the Carpenters Union and the Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club. Predeceased in 1976 by his son, Robert G. Hewett, he was also predeceased by a sister, Barbara Senechal. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gilda Attanasio Hewett who he married November 4, 1951, his children, Linda R. Hewett Stewart and her husband Bruce of Rotterdam and Douglas A. Hewett and his wife Patricia of Rotterdam, a sister, Alyce Linscott of Queensbury. Bob is also survived by seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning July 31st at 11:30 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 1130am prior the funeral service. Interment in St Cyril's Cemetery, Rotterdam, NY. In lieu of Flowers contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Parkinson Research Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018. Online condolences at
