Harold Wesley Bishop passed into eternal life Sunday afternoon, February 17 at Glendale Home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Schenectady to the late Wesley S. and Florence M. (Vickery) Bishop, he graduated Nott Terrace High School and attended Albany Business College. Harold is survived by the love of his life, wife Lillian E. (Sittner). Married October 26, 1941, they were richly blessed to share 71 years. The loving father of Barbara Jill Kostyniak and husband Ted of Burnt Hills, NY, "Pop" is also missed by grandchildren Stephen Kostyniak and partner Kate Rakus of Pittsburgh, PA, Jennifer Gouker and husband Dustin of Bend, OR, great-grandson Quinn Erickson of Fargo, ND, and several nieces, nephews and second cousins. Harold's love of geography led to a career as a transportation specialist with American Locomotive Co., General Electric, Denver-Chicago Trucking Co., P.I.E., and Dorn Trucking. A lifelong lover of sports, Harold believed his longevity was due to outdoor activities in his youth – sandlot baseball, pick-up football and cross-country. Growing up during the Great Depression forged a character centered on love, faith, devotion to family and boundless compassion. Harold will be remembered as a true "gentle" man and all will miss his thoughtfulness and kindness. Funeral services will be held private at the convenience of the family at Harold's request. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Harold's memory to Burnt Hills United Methodist Church, 816 Rte 50 (Saratoga Rd) Burnt Hills, NY 12027-9503 or to Community Hospice, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308. On Harold's behalf, the family thanks Dr. D. Armenia, Dr. M. Kaback, and caregivers at Scotia-Glenville Family Medicine, Ellis Hospital ICU, Wright Heart Center, Hospice, and the Glendale Home.
