Jerry Sabatini, 95, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 22 at Ellis Hospital of natural causes.
Born in Schenectady, New York, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Caterina Sabatini. He graduated from Nott Terrace High School and served in the Army during World War II in the European theater of war.
Jerry was a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service, a life member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and was also employed by the New York State Thruway Authority as a Senior Clerk following his retirement.
He was a charter member of the Sportsmen's Golf and Bowling Leagues and was an active player until his 90th year. He loved to travel, was an avid reader and member of the Friends of the Library and the Glenville Senior Citizens. Jerry was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville.
He took great pride in his family in all of their endeavors and will be greatly missed by them and all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn, sons Mark (Nora) Sabatini, Jerry (Sarah) Sabatini, grandchildren, Audrey, Daniel and Olivia Sabatini, sisters-in-law Aminta Sabatini and Lorraine Beebe and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Gildo Sabatini, Aldo Sabatini, Leonilda Bottieri, Rita Alois and Matilda Sabatini.
A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning, August 26, 2013 at 9am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd., Glenville. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church from 8am-9am prior to the funeral mass.
The family wishes to thank the A-6 staff at Ellis Hospital for their support and excellent care during Jerry's stay.
