Gladys M. Toung 81 died Thursday evening February 16, 2012 at her home in Schenectady. Born in Henrietta, NY, Gladys was the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Smith) Hunter. A homemaker, Gladys was a former operator with New York Telephone, a member, elder and former deacon of the Union Presbyterian Church in Schenectady, an avid supporter of the Humane Society, the Diabetes Association and also was a gifted solver of her daily crossword puzzles. Predeceased in 1997 by her husband of over 48 years George D. Toung, Gladys is survived by her sons, Robert Toung (Julie) of Esperance, Gene Toung (Sunni) of Schenectady, Peter Toung (Chong) of Spring, TX, Gerald Toung of Schenectady and Gregg Toung (Georgina)of Miami, FL., grandchildren Kristina, Emily, Zachary ,Nathaniel, Brian and Brandon Toung, a sister Mary Frazier of Honeoye Falls, NY, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.. Funeral services will be on Tuesday morning February 21st at 10 am at Union Presbyterian Church, 1068 Park Ave., Schenectady, NY 12308. A visitation will be held on Monday February 20th at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY from 4 to 7 pm. Interment in Saratoga National Cemetery. Contributions in Gladys memory to the Union Presbyterian Church.
