Ralph A. Friello, 82, died peacefully Monday, February 20th, 2012 at home surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Schenectady, Ralph was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Long) Friello. A staff Sergeant with the New York Guard, Ralph worked for New York State with the Division of Military and Naval Affairs for over 30 years until his retirement in 1984. A former Board President and chairman with the Rotterdam Boys Club, he was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace. Ralph was a recipient of a certificate of appreciation from President Gerald Ford and Governor Hugh Carey, a board member of the selective service and certificate recipient. Ralph loved all the family vacations, especially to Old Orchard Beach, ME. He was predeceased in 2007 by his beloved wife of 49 years Genevieve (D'Alessandris) Friello, whom he married August 3, 1958. Ralph is survived by his children, Linda Marie Beeble (Gary) of Guilderland and Ralph J. Friello (Karen) of Rotterdam Jct., grandchildren, Mark Bankowski (Meghan), Greg Bankowski, Anthony Friello and Ashlynn Friello as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, In-laws and dear friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening February 23rd from 6 to 8 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY A memorial mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday February 24, 2012 at 9:30 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 210 Princetown Road, Rotterdam, NY. Interment in St. Cyril's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ralph's memory may be made to Community Hospice, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12309.
